“….Meanwhile, a borough away, another new beach is being built along the Brooklyn shoreline in Williamsburg.  The new Brooklyn beach is being built by Two Trees Management, which created Domino Park as part of its redevelopment of the former Domino Sugar Factory.  The beach isn’t expected to open until 2028, and while residents will be permitted to wade in the water, developers are pushing the city to allow for full swimming.

“The goal is to attract folks to the water’s edge, to let them interact with the East River in a way that they never have,” Two Trees Management director Dave Lombino told NY1.  Swimming at the location would need to be green-lit by the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene in the coming years, though for now officials are sticking to their guns.
“New Yorkers should enjoy the spectacular view over the water at the new non-swimming beaches at Domino Park and Gansevoort Peninsula, but when it comes time to go in the water, enjoy one of the city’s beaches that are safe for swimming,” a department spokesperson told NY1.” (New York Post)
